The European Network Church on the Move is a spontaneous convergence of organizations – associations, communities, informal groups and networks – of European Christians who are in majority Catholic, sharing(1) the vision of a Church prophetic, ecumenical, liberating, supporting, loving, which neither excludes nor discriminates and which follows on the steps of Jesus the liberator and (2) the will to work, respecting cultural and religious diversity, for peace, justice, freedom, human rights and democracy, including in the Catholic Church (Cf Declaration of rights and freedoms in the Catholic Church, European Network 1994)........(d) The European Network declares itself an integral part of the Catholic Church enjoying the freedom of association under the law of the Catholic Church (Canon 215) (Constitution Preamble b and d)
Objectives of EN-RE :
To promote Human Rights in society and in the Churches and in the search for the common good, notably by the practice and development of interconvictional dialogue, which includes both inter-religious and intra-religious dialogue, to ensure the prevalence of secularism, namely the equal respect of all religious and humanist beliefs provided they guarantee the equal human rights for all persons whatever their gender, race and colour in accordance with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
Our method:
We believe that this is best achieved by working with our member groups on projects defined in the committees of the Conference of INGOs where we can provide local information for the committees and lobby both our local members of the PACE and the Congress to ensure that the recommendations of the Conference eventually improve the legislation in our own member States and throughout all the 46 Council of Europe member States.
Experience of EN-RE:
With regard to the ENRE's participation in the Conference of INGOs, a few references to work carried out within the Conference in which the ENRE has played an important driving role, in particular the following 2 Recommendations of the Committee of Ministers to the Conference of INGOs :
